Ipipiri Nature Conservancy Trust – Negotiating a purchase mid Covid-19

The Ipipiri Nature Conservancy Trust has secured a deal to buy Elliot Bay – a 700 hectare property at one of Northland’s iconic surf beaches.
The Trust has a vision of preserving the Māori heritage, protecting the biodiversity and developing walking tracks to link with others and create a Great Walk in the Bay of Islands.

But the deal to purchase the property didn’t come easy – the Covid-19 pandemic initially sent some funders fleeing, causing Trust Chair Geoff Ricketts to rethink and renegotiate the project.
