The Covid-19 lockdown gave iconic Taranaki Mounga a chance to breathe and balance himself, according to the Chair of the Taranaki Mounga project and iwi leader Jamie Tuuta.

The mounga, which has huge cultural and spiritual significance, was closed during Level 4 and had limited access for predator control in Level 3 of the Covid-19 regulations. It has now reopened to the public in Level 2.
